What is the process for applying for a fiancé visa?

The process for applying for a fiancé visa in Virginia is a complex one and requires the completion of multiple steps. Generally speaking, the process involves obtaining approval from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the US Department of State (DOS). Before the individual can apply for a fiancé visa, they must first obtain a Petition for Alien Fiancé (Form I-129F), which must be completed by the US citizen who is filing on behalf of their fiancé and sent to the USCIS. The individual applying for the visa must then undergo a medical examination to ensure that they meet certain health and other requirements. They must also complete extensive forms, including a Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) if the fiancé is outside the United States, and they must provide evidence of the bona fide relationship between the two individuals. This includes submitting evidence of a meeting within the past two years, or proof of a significant and meaningful relationship. Finally, after all of the forms and evidence have been submitted, the US citizen and their fiancé must appear for an interview at their local US embassy or consulate where their eligibility for the visa will be determined. If the application is approved, the fiancé will be granted a visa and must enter the United States within 90 days. Once they have arrived, they must meet all the criteria of a lawful fiancé before they can become a permanent resident.
