How do I renew my Employment Authorization Document (EAD)?

If you are looking to renew your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) in the state of Texas, you must first understand the eligibility requirements outlined by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). To be eligible for renewal, your current EAD must still be valid, and you must either have a pending Form I-485 Adjustment of Status application or have previously been granted employment authorization. The renewal process for an EAD includes first filing a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. This form should be filled out as accurately and completely as possible. You will also need to include documents to verify your identity and Form I-797, Notice of Action, to show that your initial request for employment authorization has been approved. In addition, you will need to provide photos of yourself and pay the USCIS filing fee. It’s important to note that the USCIS filing fee can change at any time, so be sure to review the current fee schedule before submitting your application. Once your Form I-765 and all other required documents have been submitted, the USCIS will begin the application process. USCIS will review your application and documents and make a decision on your request. You can expect to wait a minimum of three months for the USCIS to process your renewal. If your renewal is granted, your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) will be mailed to you. You can then use your renewed EAD to work in the United States.
