What is the process for filing an application for naturalization?

In order to apply for naturalization in Mississippi, an individual must complete and submit Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. This form can be completed online or by downloading a paper form from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website. The form requires the applicant to provide personal information such as name, date of birth, place of birth, social security number, and contact information. The applicant is then required to mail the form along with the naturalization application fee to the appropriate USCIS facility. After USCIS receives the application, they will schedule an interview for the applicant and send notification of the interview date. During the interview, the applicant will be asked to demonstrate their English-language comprehension by reading, writing, and speaking in English, as well as provide information about their knowledge of US history and government. After the interview, USCIS may require additional documentation or evidence regarding the applicant’s eligibility for naturalization. Once the USCIS reviews all of the applicant’s information, they will make a decision either to approve or deny the application. If the application is approved, the applicant will be scheduled for a swearing-in ceremony where they will take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States. Upon completion of the oath, the applicant will become a naturalized US citizen.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
