What are the international standards of human rights?

International standards of human rights refer to the fundamental rights and freedoms that every human being is entitled to regardless of race, color, gender, language, and religion. These standards are enumerated in various international treaties, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). The UDHR is the first-ever comprehensive statement on what constitutes human rights and is the foundation of modern international human rights law. It enunciates rights such as the right to life, liberty, and security of person; the right to work, to an education, and to a standard of living adequate for health and wellbeing; and the right to freedom from discrimination.
