What is the role of an insurance examiner?
An insurance examiner plays an important role in overseeing the conduct of insurance companies in California. An insurance examiner reviews the financial statements and operating procedures of an insurance company to ensure that the company is meeting all necessary regulations. The examiner also investigates customer complaints and reviews customer records to make sure that the insurance company is treating customers fairly. The California Department of Insurance (CDI) trains and licenses examiners in order to keep the insurance industry within the state admission and ensure that the interests of consumers are protected. Examiners also provide technical assistance to insurance companies by monitoring premiums, evaluating rates and determining compliance. They are also responsible for developing, implementing and enforcing laws and regulations. In general, the examiner provides an important role in ensuring that the insurance industry is operating properly and that insurance customers are getting the best deal. In order to become a licensed insurance examiner in California, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher, pass a background check and pass the state certified examiner exam. After passing the exam, applicants are required to attend continuing education and complete at least 20 hours of training before they can be certified. Insurance examiners in California serve a critical role in maintaining a secure and regulated insurance industry. They work to protect the interests of both insurance companies and customers and ensure that the companies are following the proper regulations and procedures.
