How much marijuana can I possess with a medical marijuana card?

If you have a medical marijuana card in California, you are allowed to possess a certain amount of marijuana. The amount of marijuana you’re allowed to possess with a medical marijuana card depends on the state you live in. Generally, in California, an individual with a valid medical marijuana card can possess up to 8 ounces of marijuana in dried form (or its equivalent in other forms). Additionally, medical marijuana cardholders are allowed to possess up to 6 mature marijuana plants or 12 immature marijuana plants. In California, medical marijuana cardholders are legally allowed to possess and consume marijuana for medical purposes. A medical marijuana cardholder is also permitted to share and/or transfer his/her medical marijuana to another medical marijuana cardholder, given that both individuals are 18 years of age or older. It is important to note that you must be 18 years of age or older to purchase marijuana from a licensed medical marijuana dispensary. Furthermore, medical marijuana cardholders are only allowed to purchase marijuana from a licensed dispensary and are prohibited to purchase or sell marijuana to or from other individuals or entities. Marijuana possession, cultivation, sale, and/or use outside of a valid medical marijuana card is illegal in California.
