What is the Marine Corps Manual?
The Marine Corps Manual (MCM) is a codified guidebook that outlines the laws and regulations that govern the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). It is akin to a Constitution that is applicable to all Marines and outlines their rights, responsibilities, and limitations. The MCM is a legal reference document and acts as a guide for Marines to follow in order to ensure their conduct and activities comply with the legal requirements. The document includes directives regarding the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), which is the legal code that applies to all military personnel, including members of the USMC. The MCM also outlines standards and policies such as general conduct, discipline, rank structure, and promotion standards. Additionally, it provides information on personnel issues, such as recruitment, training, and benefits. All Marines are expected to understand and comply with the regulations and directives outlined in the MCM. In Tennessee, any Marine that is found to be in violation of the MCM is subject to disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the infraction.
