What treaties have Native Americans signed with the United States?
Native Americans in Michigan have had a long and complex relationship with the United States, including signing a number of treaties with the U.S. government. The first treaty involving Native Americans in Michigan was the Treaty of Detroit, signed in 1783. This treaty established the boundary line between the United States and the Indian nations in the region. In 1807 the United States and the Indian nations of the area signed the Treaty of Brownstown.
