In Colorado, the amount of time you can spend in Small Claims Court depends on the type of case you are filing and the amount of money you are asking for. Generally, cases involving amounts in dispute of less than $7,500 can be heard in Small Claims Court and the hearing will be limited to thirty minutes. Cases involving amounts in dispute of more than $7,500, but not exceeding $15,000, may also require a hearing, which shall not exceed one hour. In either case, the court may allow additional time if it is necessary to ensure a fair hearing. The only exception is in cases involving landlord/tenant disputes, which may be scheduled for up to two hours if parties request a hearing.
