How does utility companies report consumer complaints?

Utility companies in Washington state are required to report all consumer complaints to the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC). The utility company must report each complaint, its resolution, and any relevant information within 10 business days of receiving the complaint. When a complaint is reported, the WUTC reviews the complaint to determine the proper course of action. Depending on the type and severity of the complaint, the WUTC may order an investigation by the utility company or by an independent third party. The WUTC may also fine the utility company and/or take other actions. In addition, the WUTC publishes a list of all complaints filed against a utility company each month on its website. This list includes the types of complaints, the number of complaints, and the resolutions. This helps customers and other stakeholders stay informed about the level of customer satisfaction. The WUTC also makes it easy for consumers to file a complaint online. The online form requires customers to provide their contact information and a description of their complaint. Once the form is submitted, the complaint is forwarded to the utility company for resolution. This ensures that customers have a channel to voice their concerns.
