Yes, the State of California provides special benefits for veterans who served during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Veterans who served in the GWOT may be eligible for additional benefits, including the California College Fee Waiver Program, which allows qualifying veterans to be exempted from paying college tuition and mandatory college fees. Other benefits include the California Career Technical Education Program, a tuition fee waiver for veterans pursuing vocational/technical certificate programs, and the California Global War on Terror Veterans Education Assistance Fund, which provides up to $2,500 for higher education.
