What is wage and hour law?
Wage and hour law in Colorado is a set of laws that governs the amount of wages that employers must pay their employees, as well as the hours for which they must be paid. These laws also include provisions for overtime pay, minimum wage requirements, and a variety of other issues related to employment. Minimum wage in Colorado is currently set at $12.00 per hour, and employers must pay all employees at least this amount for all hours worked, regardless of their job title or duties. Colorado employers are also required to pay time-and-a-half for hours worked over a certain limit in a week or per day, which may vary depending on the size of the business. Workers are also entitled to overtime pay for work done in excess of 40 hours in a work week. Employers must pay one and a half times the employee’s regular rate of pay for overtime hours. However, certain employees may qualify for an exemption from the overtime pay rule, such as executive, administrative, and professional employees. Wage and hour law in Colorado also provides other protections to workers, including protection against discrimination in wages, restrictions on the requirement of off-the-clock work, and requirements for accurate and timely payment of wages. These laws are intended to ensure that all employees in Colorado are treated fairly and are paid for their work in accordance with the law.
