Are employers required to pay for employee training?
In California, employers are not required to pay employees for training. However, they are required to pay employees at least the minimum wage when they are training. Under the California labor law, employers must pay employees the California minimum wage of $12.00 per hour for any time worked. Employers must also pay non-exempt employees for the time they spend in training programs or courses.
