What is the difference between wrongful termination and breach of contract?
Wrongful termination and breach of contract are separate legal issues in North Carolina. Wrongful termination is when an employee is fired in violation of their employment contract or the law. This could include a firing that was based on discrimination, retaliation, or breach of public policy. On the other hand, breach of contract is when a party does not fulfill their requirements of an agreement and goes against the agreement.
