What qualifies as a wrongful termination case?

In Tennessee, there are several actions that could qualify as a wrongful termination case. These include being terminated due to discrimination based on age, gender, race, national origin, disability, religious beliefs, veteran status, or marital status. Additionally, an employer may not terminate an employee due to their involvement in an investigation or to retaliate against them for reporting a violation of a law or regulation. If an employee has an employment contract that outlines certain terms or conditions, then they may have a wrongful termination claim if that contract has been violated by the employer. This could include, for example, if the employee is terminated before the end of the contract or if the employer has not followed the terms of the agreement. Finally, an employee may have a wrongful termination case if they have been terminated due to a breach of public policy. This could happen if an employer terminates an employee for taking part in certain activities protected by law, such as jury duty, voting, or whistleblowing. In this case, the employer is not allowed to put job security at risk for taking part in activities that are fundamental to our society.
