How is aircraft import/export regulated?

In Washington, the import/export of aircraft is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA ensures that all aircraft imported or exported to or from the state meet safety standards and are properly equipped and maintained. To bring an aircraft into Washington, the aircraft must be registered with the FAA and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) must be met. The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) also has requirements for the import and export of aircraft. All aircraft must pass an aircraft inspection before they are allowed into or out of the state. The WSDOT also requires that the aircraft is properly documented both in the US and in the country of origin. The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) also inspects all aircraft imported or exported to or from the United States. The CBP ensures that the aircraft meets all safety and security requirements set forth in the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regulations. The CBP also ensures that the aircraft is not stolen or otherwise illegally obtained. Finally, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring that all aircraft imported or exported to or from Washington meet international air carrier regulations. The FAA inspects all US aircraft to ensure that they comply with all US and international airworthiness regulations. This includes ensuring that the aircraft complies with air traffic control rules and regulations.
