What constitutes a violation of aviation law?

A violation of aviation law occurs when someone does something illegal or fails to do something that is legally required when it comes to air travel. In California, this can include flying without a license, flying in violation of a federal aviation regulation, or flying an aircraft in an unsafe manner. Violations of aviation law may also include failing to obtain the required certification, such as a pilot’s license, to operate an aircraft, failing to register a plane or helicopter with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and failing to comply with a variety of other FAA regulations, such as maintaining an aircraft in safe working condition and performing regular safety inspections. Additionally, operating a plane or helicopter in a careless or reckless manner, operating an aircraft while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and transporting illegal or hazardous materials in an aircraft can all be considered aviation law violations. Pilot negligence, such as careless flying, can also be considered a violation. Any of these activities can result in a civil or criminal penalty imposed by the FAA or other government agency.
