What are the regulations regarding aircraft maintenance training?

In the state of Texas, aircraft maintenance training is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under 14 CFR Part 65, titled “Certification: Airmen Other Than Flight Crewmembers”. This regulation outlines the requirements for an individual to become a certified aircraft mechanic, which includes a combination of practical experience and formal aviation maintenance training. The regulations require potential aircraft mechanics to obtain a minimum of 18 months of practical experience working on aircrafts or a minimum of 30 months experience supervising aircrafts. Additionally, applicants are required to obtain an aviation maintenance technician school certificate from an FAA-approved school.
