How do I obtain a license to grow cannabis?

In Nebraska, it is not yet legal to obtain a license to grow cannabis at this time. Because marijuana remains federally illegal, medical marijuana laws have not been enacted in Nebraska. Therefore, obtaining a license to grow cannabis is not currently possible. Although recreational use of cannabis is illegal in Nebraska, the state has some of the least restrictive laws when it comes to possession. Possession of up to one ounce of marijuana is punishable by a citation and a maximum fine of $300. Possession of larger amounts of marijuana can lead to more serious criminal charges and therefore, growing cannabis is strongly discouraged. It is illegal for anyone to cultivate, possess, manufacture, distribute, deliver, or dispense cannabis, or possess any device or equipment used in connection with cannabis cultivation in the state of Nebraska. In order to obtain a license to grow cannabis, you must first wait for Nebraska to pass legislation legalizing medical marijuana. This will require a public vote or an act of the state legislature. Once passed, the state will issue licenses to growers and dispensaries that meet certain requirements. Until then, it is not possible to obtain a license to grow cannabis legally in Nebraska.
