What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that was enacted by Congress in 1990 and is enforced by the U.S. Department of Justice. The ADA protects qualified individuals with disabilities from discrimination in several areas, including employment, public services, transportation, and public accommodations. In the employment context, the ADA is designed to ensure that employers provide equal employment opportunities and do not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities.
