What kind of discrimination is illegal in the workplace?

In Idaho, it is illegal to discriminate against any employee based on certain characteristics such as race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, familial status, or marital status. This includes all types of discrimination within the workplace, including recruitment, selection, promotions, transfers, layoffs, compensation, benefits, training, and other terms and conditions of employment. For example, an employer cannot deny a job to someone solely based on their race or gender. Also, an employer cannot make decisions based on age or national origin when hiring or firing employees, and they cannot grant unequal benefits or pay to an employee because of their gender, religion, or age. Additionally, an employer cannot deny someone a job promotion or other opportunities based on any of the illegal characteristics. Furthermore, employers cannot create hostile work environments, harass employees, or retaliate against them for filing a complaint about workplace discrimination. All of these types of discrimination are illegal in the workplace in Idaho.
