What is the difference between a voluntary and an involuntary termination?

A voluntary termination is when an employee chooses to end their employment with an organization, either permanently or temporarily. An employee might choose to leave for various reasons, such as looking for better pay or a different job opportunity. When an employee voluntarily terminates their employment, the organization typically does not have to provide them any financial compensation or benefits. An involuntary termination, on the other hand, is when an employee is terminated from their job due to a variety of factors, including lack of skills, job performance, company restructuring, or violation of company policy. Typically, the employer must provide the employee with a severance package that includes a certain amount of compensation, benefits, and other considerations when they are involuntarily terminated.
