What is the eligibility for work authorization with an immigrant visa?

Immigrants who have an immigrant visa (also known as a green card) are eligible to work in Washington. An immigrant visa allows an individual who is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to enter the U.S. Immigrants with an immigrant visa are legally authorized to live and work in the U.S. and can receive certain benefits and protections, such as Social Security and Medicare coverage.
