What documents do I need to apply for DACA?

To apply for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) in Virginia, you must submit a range of documents with your application. These documents will help to prove your identity, your residency in the United States, and your educational status. First, you must submit copies (not originals) of documents that prove your identity. Examples include a passport, a birth certificate, and/or a driver’s license. You may also be asked to submit a school photo ID, a military ID, or another form of identification. Second, you must submit documents that prove you resided in the United States before your 16th birthday. Examples include school or medical records, tax records, or other reliable proofs of residence. Third, you must submit documents showing you are currently enrolled in school, or have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, a sworn affidavit from an official at your school stating that you are currently enrolled and making satisfactory progress, or an official documentation from the highest grade level you have achieved. Finally, you must complete and submit Form I-821D, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. In addition, you must also complete and submit Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and Form I-765WS, Worksheet for Form I-765. You must also include a government-issued photo ID, and the fee associated with the application. By submitting these documents with your DACA application, you can begin the process of obtaining deferred action status in Virginia.
