What is an F-2 visa?

An F-2 visa is a form of temporary nonimmigrant status for someone who wants to come to the United States to study. This visa is for the spouse and any children of an F-1 visa holder. F-1 visa holders are foreign students who are pursuing academic studies in the United States. Someone with an F-2 visa is allowed to enter the United States for the duration of the time that the F-1 visa holder is permitted to be in the country.
