What is the minimum wage?

In Arizona, the minimum wage was increased on January 1, 2020. The minimum wage for all Arizona employers is now $12.00 per hour. This is an increase of $1.00 from the previous minimum wage of $11.00 per hour in 2019. Arizona is one of 21 states with a wage higher than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. There are some exceptions to the higher wage, such as for tipped employees, part-time employees, and full-time students. For tipped employees, the minimum wage before tips is $9.00 per hour, as of January 1, 2020. For part-time employees, the minimum wage is $10.00 per hour, as of January 1, 2020. And for full-time students employed at the same school the student attends, the minimum wage is $10.50 per hour, as of January 1, 2020. These minimum wages have been set by the Arizona Legislature to ensure that employees are adequately paid for their work.
