What is the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)?
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) is a piece of federal legislation that was implemented to protect members of the United States military from unfair treatment in the workplace. It is a law that applies to all employers in the state of Florida. USERRA requires that employees who leave their job for military service must be reemployed to their original job when they return. The law also applies to individuals who take leave for either training or active duty service in the National Guard or Reserves branches of the military. USERRA is an important piece of legislation that ensures that members of the military, who are often serving the interests of their country, are granted equal protections in the workplace. It enables those who serve to come back to their job with the same employment opportunities that were available before they left for service.
