What benefits are available to dependents of disabled veterans?

Veterans disability law in Washington provides benefits to the dependents of veterans who have been disabled due to their service. There are a number of benefits available to dependents of disabled veterans, depending on the veteran’s disability status. The VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation program (DIC) provides monthly compensation to eligible survivors of veterans who died as a result of a disability related to their service. This compensation is paid regardless of whether or not the veteran had retired from the military. Survivors of a veteran who was totally and permanently disabled from service-connected disabilities are eligible for Monetary Burial Benefits. These benefits are intended to help defray the costs of a veteran’s burial and funeral expenses. Survivors of a veteran who was rated at 30 percent or more for service-connected disabilities are eligible for pension benefits. This pension helps provide financial support to the surviving spouse or other dependents of the veteran. For the dependents of veterans who have a service-connected disability of 60 percent or more, educational benefits are available. This includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, and monthly living expenses. These benefits can help pay for the dependents to attend college, vocational school, or even training programs. Veterans disability law in Washington also provides health care benefits to dependents of disabled veterans. These health care benefits include medical care, prescription drugs, mental health services, and durable medical equipment. In addition to these benefits, dependents of disabled veterans may also be eligible for other types of assistance such as specialized housing, rehabilitation services, employment assistance, and more. It is important to contact the VA to determine which benefits are available to dependents of disabled veterans.
