What are the requirements for aircraft training programs?

In the state of Washington, all aircraft training programs must abide by the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and must be approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Aircraft training programs are designed to train students in the operation, safety and maintenance of aircraft. In order to receive FAA approval, all aircraft training programs must meet certain criteria, such as: -The school must have a certified instructor on staff who holds a valid FAA pilot certificate. -The school must have a syllabus and curriculum that is approved by the FAA. -The syllabus must include flight and ground instruction and training activities designed to teach the students the principles and knowledge of the safe operation of an aircraft and related safety regulations. -The school must also have appropriate equipment and facilities to meet and complete the FAA-approved training. In addition, all aircraft training programs must adhere to any additional FDA regulations that may be applicable to that training program. All aircraft training programs must also meet the requirements for obtaining a student pilot certificate from the FAA. This includes a medical exam and passing a written knowledge test. All aircraft training programs must also provide insurance coverage for the aircraft used for training purposes. In order for aircraft training programs to become FAA approved, the school must submit an application and pay the appropriate fee. If approved, the FAA will then issue a certificate to the school. Once the FAA certificate is issued, the aircraft training program must then follow all FAA regulations and requirements in order to maintain their status.
