Are there any laws regulating the labeling of cannabis products?

Yes, there are laws regulating the labeling of cannabis products in California. These laws are outlined in the California Cannabis Control Act, commonly referred to as the MAUCRSA (Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act). California requires that all cannabis products are labeled with information to help consumers make safe, informed decisions at the point of sale. The label must include the cannabis products’ name, distributor or manufacturer, a date of manufacture, a date of expiration or a date of harvest, a batch number, an identifier that identifies the product as cannabis, a list of all ingredients in the product, the weight of the product, a THC or CBD concentration statement, a warning statement about the health risks associated with consuming cannabis, a list of allergens, a symbol or statement about the product’s type (such as “Medical Cannabis” or “Adult-Use Cannabis”), and a warning about the potential for misuse or abuse. Labels must also include a statement that the product is intended for California residents only. In addition, all labeling must adhere to the packaging requirements outlined in the California Packaging and Labeling Act.
