What is the purpose of human rights law?
Human rights law is the legal framework which protects and ensures that individuals have certain inalienable rights. These rights are universal and protect people from being treated differently because of their race, religion, nationality, disability, age, gender, or sexual orientation. In the state of Texas, the purpose of human rights law is to ensure that all people are treated equally under the law and that their rights are not unjustly deprived.
