How can I apply for work authorization in the U.S.?
In order to obtain work authorization in the United States, you will need to first meet the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). In order to be eligible for authorization, you must either hold a valid nonimmigrant visa such as a student visa or be an immigrant eligible for permanent residence. Depending on your immigration status or visa classification, you may be eligible to apply for an employment authorization document (EAD). This document will allow you to accept employment in the United States for a period of time. If you are a resident of California and would like to apply for work authorization in the United States, you can do so by submitting Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization). This form must be filled out in its entirety and submitted to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) along with the appropriate filing fee. Once USCIS has received and reviewed your application, you will be notified of their decision. If you are not a resident of California, you should contact your local USCIS office in order to obtain an application. You will need to provide proof of your identity and immigration status in order to apply. It is also important to make sure that you provide all of the necessary documents and information to USCIS in order for them to make a determination about your application. Once you have received your work authorization, you will be eligible to accept employment in the United States for the designated period of time. It is important to remember that you must maintain your resident or visa status in order to remain eligible for a work authorization.
