What is the process to apply for a Fiancee visa?

The process for applying for a Fiancee visa in California is a lengthy one, as the visa must be approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The first step is to submit Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancee, with the appropriate fees. This form establishes that the U.S. citizen is petitioning for a foreign citizen to enter the United States as his or her fiancee. Additionally, the petition must include proof that the couple has met in person in the last two years, unless a waiver is granted. The next step is for the U.S. citizen to provide evidence of his or her U.S. citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, to the foreign citizen. The foreign citizen must then submit the documents to the USCIS as part of the visa application process. This includes financial documents and affidavits to demonstrate that the couple has a bona fide relationship and that the foreign citizen has a genuine intent to marry the U.S. citizen. The USCIS may also require a personal interview in order to make a determination on the application. During the interview, the couple will be asked about their relationship and the foreign citizen may also be asked questions about his or her home country. Once all the necessary documents and requirements are met, the USCIS will make a determination on the application and the foreign citizen will be granted a Fiancee visa if approved. It is important to note that even with approval, the foreign citizen must still be admitted to the United States and marriage must take place within 90 days of the foreign citizen’s entry.
