What is the World Trade Organization (WTO)?
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an international body that sets the rules for international trade between its member countries. The goal of the WTO is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible. The WTO was established in 1995, and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. Along with setting rules for international trade, the WTO also provides a forum for countries to discuss trade-related issues and settle disputes. In California, the WTO seeks to promote economic growth and development by increasing international trade. As such, the WTO establishes rules and regulations that help promote fair trade. These regulations cover areas such as import and export licensing, tariff and non-tariff barriers, intellectual property rights, and investment measures. In addition, the WTO also provides a dispute settlement mechanism, allowing countries to address issues of trade disagreement. The goal of the WTO is to help increase worldwide economic growth and development by increasing international trade. The WTO plays an important role in helping to ensure that California businesses have access to new markets, and that California businesses can compete fairly in the international market. Ultimately, the WTO seeks to ensure that all countries have access to fair trade and that the benefits of free-market competition reach everyone.
