What is the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY)?

The International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) is an international court established in 1993 by the United Nations Security Council to prosecute serious crimes committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia, including genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. The Tribunal is located in The Hague in the Netherlands.
