What do I need to do to be approved for Social Security Disability benefits?
To be approved for Social Security Disability benefits in California, you must first show that you are medically disabled and unable to work. To do this, you will need to provide medical evidence such as doctor’s reports, lab results, medical tests and x-rays, etc. The medical evidence must show that you have a medical condition that is expected to last for at least 12 months. You will also need to provide evidence of your work history. This can be done by submitting your earnings records from the last 5 years, or documentation from your employer that confirms your position, hours, and pay. In addition to the evidence of your medical condition and your work history, you will have to complete a Social Security Disability application that asks for information about your financial resources, health insurance, and past work related injuries. Once you have completed the application and provided all of the required evidence, you will need to wait for the Social Security Administration to review your case. If you are approved for Social Security Disability benefits, you will receive payments and benefits that are based on the amount of your previous earnings.
