How do I submit evidence to the VA when appealing a decision?

If you wish to appeal a decision made by the VA (Veterans Affairs) relating to veterans disability law, you must submit evidence to the VA in order to make your case. The type of evidence you will need to submit to the VA may depend on the circumstances in your particular case. Generally, however, providing evidence to support your claim may include medical records, service records, job applications and other documents that prove you were disabled during your service in the military and that the disability is continuing now. In Washington, the appeal process is initiated by completing and submitting a “Notice of Disagreement” form with the VA. This form is available online or you can contact the VA to receive one. After you have submitted your Notice of Disagreement, you should submit any and all evidence that you have to the VA. The VA may also contact you and request additional evidence to support your claim. Make sure to keep copies of all evidence you submit to the VA. When the VA has received all of the evidence, they will make a final decision on your claim and inform you of their decision. If the VA is unable to make a determination or deny your claim, they will inform you and provide your with instructions on how to move forward with your appeal. Generally, you will be given the opportunity to request a hearing before a VA judge in order to present your evidence. It is important to know all of the rules and regulations regarding veterans disability law in order to successfully submit evidence to the VA and to appeal a decision.
