What are the employer’s responsibilities for paying minimum wage?

In Arizona, employers must pay their employees at least the state minimum wage rate, currently $12.15 per hour for all non-exempt employees. Employers must show the current minimum wage rate on all paychecks. Additionally, employers must include the amount of tips earned by the employee on their paycheck, as applicable. Employers must make sure that employees receive all pay due them including tips, bonuses, commissions, vacation and sick pay, etc. in a timely manner. Employers must keep accurate records of all pay and hours worked for at least three years. Employers should be aware of any changes in the minimum wage rate, overtime pay regulations and other wage and hour law specifications. Additionally, employers cannot pay less than the minimum wage rate to any employee for any amount of time. Employers must also make sure that they meet all record keeping and reporting requirements for payroll. Finally, employers must also ensure that their employees are not subject to discrimination in terms of wages, benefits and other terms and conditions of employment. Employers should review and abide by all applicable federal, state and local laws regarding wage and hour requirements.
