What are the requirements for aircraft maintenance and inspection systems?

In Utah, aircraft owners and operators are required to maintain and inspect their aircraft according to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Aircraft must be inspected periodically to ensure its airworthiness. The FAA has three levels of inspections: 100-hour, annual, and progressive. The 100-hour inspection is usually done after the aircraft has flown for more than 100 hours in a 12-month period. The annual inspection is done for most aircraft every 12 months. The progressive inspection requires more frequent and more in-depth inspections that are based on a predetermined time or other cycle. In addition to these inspections, aircraft are also subject to airworthiness directives. These are issued by the FAA when design, production, operation, or maintenance of an aircraft results in an unsafe condition. Airworthiness directives require actions such as repairs, replacements, and/or inspections to ensure airworthiness. Aircraft in Utah must also be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration. This is done by filing Form 8050-1, Aircraft Registration Application, with the FAA. Once the aircraft is registered, the owner must obtain an airworthiness certificate from the FAA. The certificate must be kept current and is subject to periodic renewals. Finally, aircraft owners must obtain an aircraft insurance policy. This policy must cover the aircraft, its passengers, and any passengers in it, as well as any third parties against any potential liability. This ensures that the financial costs of any damages caused by the aircraft are covered.
