What are the requirements for an L-1 visa?
An L-1 visa is a visa that is available to individuals who are transferring to the United States from their current employer in order to take up employment in their existing business. This visa is available to individuals who are entering the US for the purpose of providing services in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge capacity. In order to be eligible to apply for the L-1 visa, the individual must have worked for the current employer for at least one consecutive year in the three-year period prior to the filing of the application. The employer must also complete an appropriate application for the L-1 visa and submit all the required documents, such as the individual’s passport, a copy of the job offer, and other evidence of the individual’s eligibility to receive the visa. Once the application is approved, the individual will be issued an L-1 visa. This visa is valid up to three years and can be renewed if needed.
