What is an L-1A visa?

An L-1A visa is a visa that applies to certain foreign workers who come to the United States to work temporarily. This type of visa is specifically for foreign workers who come to the United States to work in a managerial or executive capacity for a branch of a multinational corporation. This visa is usually granted for up to three years but can be extended for a period of up to seven years. The employer must submit an L-1 petition to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in order to classify the worker as an L-1A visa holder. In addition to the petition, the following documents must also be submitted: a document showing the worker’s employment and residence abroad, proof that the employee’s current immigration status allows them to stay in the United States, and evidence that the employer meets certain criteria. In California, an L-1A visa holder is eligible to work in the state for the duration of the visa. This means that the holder is allowed to work for the same employer for up to seven years. In addition, the holder can also apply for permanent residency. This must be done through another immigration process, however. In summary, an L-1A visa is a type of visa that allows a foreign worker to come to the United States to work in a managerial or executive capacity for a branch of a multinational corporation for up to seven years. In California, the holder is eligible to work in the state for the duration of the visa and may be able to apply for permanent residency.
